3 3/4" blade, 6 1/3" total length

Blade design based on Renaissance thrust daggers, used historically as hidden sleeve or concealable neck knives. We’ve taken a modern approach to this tactical weapon by conceiving it as a delicate garter dagger. Such versatility in the concealment of this high-grade stainless steel blade is due to a false edge on one side and the razor sharp edge on the other, which start at a heart-punctured bolster and convene to a needle-fine point.

The fleur motif of the Délavé Fantôme Dague takes inspiration from the execution of Queen Marie Antoinette and the overnight change in her appearance observed during her capture after the failed royal Flight to Varennes, for which the Marie Antoinette Syndrome would be named. In addition to the dagger’s history as a secret tool that can be concealed specifically near one’s neck, alluding to the direct process of the Queen’s death, it is documented that the hair of young Queen Marie Antoinette turned stark white, completely and rapidly overnight following her capture by the Revolutionaries. It is speculated that this syndrome is a dramatic form of Alopecia Areata Difusa, an issue with an autoimmune mechanism that is triggered by extreme sorrow or fear, as well as fits of rage, very high levels of stress, and unwelcome or unexpected news. There have been rare contemporary cases of Marie Antoinette Syndrome documented in bomb victims, primarily in the Second World War.

Fittingly, the handle of our Garter Dagger is adorned with resin flowers in gradated shades of rose-pink and ghostly white. Two genuine Swarovski crystals and a length of 100% pure silk ribbon finish off the handle. The handle is entirely cast, inlaid, and wrapped carefully by hand.
